DYNAMIC STRETCHING AND MOBILIZATION • Instructor: Dr. Eric Rubin, DC, CMT

Saturday – Sunday June 14 & 15, from 10am - 6 pm, 14 Credit Hours: Our bodies were designed to move. Modern life, however, is increasingly sedentary, limiting our natural types and ranges of motion and creating restriction in our bodies. Traditionally, massage is performed on a passive, static body rather than actively involving the client on the table. This two day workshop is designed to give the therapist practical tools for actively engaging their clients in the process of opening their bodies from within. Topics will include visual assessment, contract/relax, PNF, reciprocal inhibition and practice integrating these dynamic approaches into the Swedish massage format. For more information or to register for this class, please call SFSM at 415-474-4600.

LOWER LEG, ANKLE, & FOOT Instructor: Marty Morales, CMT

Saturday & Sunday, July 12 & 13, from 10am – 6pm, 14 Credit Hours: Working the lower leg ankle and foot area can have a deep effect on your client’s overall structure. Knowing how to properly assess your client, create an effective action plan, and execute the work in a creative and engaging manner will allow you to stand out as a bodyworker.  This two day intensive workshop will allow students to understand the structures that make up the lower leg ankle and foot and to effectively work the area.  Students will explore hands on how form and function influence one another, and how bodywork can positively support and improve these relationships. Students will then be given the skills to assess issues in the area and the techniques to work effectively in order to improve overall function. For more information or to register for this class, please call SFSM at 415-474-4600.
